Ms. Lai received her law degree from the Fu Jen Catholic University in 1999. That same year, she passed the Taiwan bar. Ms. Lai then obtained her master’s degree in law from Soochow University with a focus on civil and commercial law.
Ms. Lai has handled many high profile cases involving hostile takeover of publicly listed companies in Taiwan, alleged violation of Taiwan securities law, major construction disputes, real property disputes, and intellectual property issues. Ms. Lai also has vast experience with family law matters, such as marriage dissolution, marital property, child custody and visitation, trust, and estate planning.
Additionally, Ms. Lai has been working for many years as outside general counsel for several Taiwan investment and asset management companies, providing legal compliance guidance on issues related to mutual funds. Ms. Lai also has quite significant experience with the entertainment industry. She handled license agreements, collaboration agreements, and copyright infringement actions. Ms. Lai was engaged by the New Taipei City Government as the outside general counsel for its FZ Fifteen Animation and Story Gallery. She is also the general outside counsel for Taipei Documentary Filmmakers’ Union. Ms. Lai has been an active participant in supporting the community and has devoted significant time to underprivileged women's rights. She also actively participates in the reform of Taiwan’s judicial system. Ms. Lai used to serve as a member of the executive committee of the Judicial Reform Foundation, and is now a Supervisory Director of the Taipei Women Awakening Association and a volunteer attorney of Taiwan Legal Aid Foundation.
Additionally, Ms. Lai is also a director member of the Public Legal Education Section of the Taipei Bar Association. Ms. Lai hosts the “律師說真話X賴瑩真律師” (Straight-up Truth from Lawyer X Attorney Angela Lai) Facebook page and YouTube channel, promoting the public legal education through multimedia. Ms. Lai is also a member of the Teaching Performance Assessment Commission under the Taipei City Government.
